At Cheddon Fitzpaine Church School, we use Developing Experts as our main approach for the teaching of science.  This ensures that as a school we are covering the knowledge and skills across our mixed age classes.

Our science curriculum intent:  

• To foster a healthy curiosity in children about our universe that promotes respect for the living and non-living.  

• Pupils will acquire and develop the key substantive knowledge that has been identified within each learning journey, as well as the application of scientific skills.  

• We ensure that the disciplinary skills are built-on and developed throughout pupils’ time at the school so that they can apply their knowledge of science when using equipment, conducting experiments, building arguments and explaining concepts confidently and continue to ask questions and be curious about their surroundings. 

• Inspire children to take ownership of their own learning.
