Our Learning in Music

Our broad, inspiring and ambitious curriculum is designed to develop confident, happy and curious individuals who flourish through perseverance and a love of learning. This reflects our vision of ‘where we all belong, believe in ourselves and others and build for our future.’

Our Music curriculum intent:

• To enable all pupils to understand and explore how music is created, produced, and communicated through the interrelated dimensions of music: pitch, duration, dynamics, tempo, timbre, texture, structure and musical notation.
• To begin to improvise and compose music for a range of purposes using the interrelated dimensions of music.
• To participate in a variety of musical experiences through which we aim to build up their love of music, self- confidence, and sense of achievement.
• To develop the skills required for this by focussing our curriculum in the areas of:
  • Listening and Appraising music
  • Singing
  • Composition
  • Whole class instrumental learning from Year 1 -Year 6
