House Ambassadors
Job Description
The role of a House Ambassador is one of privilege, pride and responsibility. Students require dedication and commitment throughout the entire year to support the house in multiple events and competitions. Each House Ambassador will be different and will contribute an assortment of skills and ideas to the role. The Characteristics of a House Ambassador is they are polite and well-mannered; organised and committed; a confident speaker; well-presented in uniform and appearance; able to liaise and converse with staff, students and the wider community; desire to act responsibly and to be a role model for other students; be caring, mature and honest.
The job of a House Ambassador involves the following:
Lead and support the students of your House in a variety of House Competitions;
Work closely with the House Leader (adults), providing ideas and support for competitions and House-related activities;
Attend meetings with the House Leaders and Mrs Strawbridge about House events;
Inspire the students and staff of your House;
Be an excellent role model in behaviour, attitude and dress at all times;
Be available for events such as inter house football for example.
Calculate weekly Dojo point totals.
Support the assembly ambassadors and adults to award dojo points in celebration assembly as well as announce our weekly house winner.
Assembly Ambassadors
Job Description
Assembly Ambassadors work together with adults and visitors of the school to help deliver engaging and inspiring assemblies to the rest of our school community. You must be confident speaking in front of an audience and consistent model our school values of respect, trust and perseverance.
The job of an Assembly Ambassador involves the following:
Setting up the hall in readiness for collective worship Monday to Thursday including table, cross, candles, entrance music and year 6 benches.
Greet visitors and support them in delivering their assembly.
Work confidently with hall laptop, projector and screen.
Read the opening and closer prayer at each collective worship.
Lighting the candles safely.
During celebration assemblies you will help present certificates/ awards given out each week.
Packing away the hall after assemblies to ensure the space can be used by others.
Presenting yourself neatly and as a role model to the rest of the school.
Eco Ambassadors
Job Description
The school will appoint Eco Ambassadors. This group of pupils are responsible for the promotion of looking after the school environment and our role in looking after the world. Eco ambassadors are a passionate group of pupils who meet regularly to discuss eco-friendly and environmental issues within school and the wider community. The Eco ambassadors promote social responsibility and respect for all things environmental. There has never been a more important time to educate and future proof our young people for the challenges they will face because of climate change. At Cheddon Fitzpaine we are committed to preparing our young people for the future, providing them with the knowledge to form an educated opinion and consideration for global issues and our Eco Ambassadors will support this in their role.
The job of an Eco Ambassador involves the following:
The ambassadors will oversee the need to save energy in the class, will implement (with the support of their peers) ways in which they can reuse or recycle.
They will ensure waste is kept to a minimum and that electricity/water is used wisely.
Weekly emptying on the playground bins and food waste and replacing bin bags.
Ensuring, when not in use, lights are switch off to safe electricity.
When heating is on, that doors and windows remain shut to save energy.
Help develop and progress the recycling across the school.
Help maintain the tidiness of inside and outside areas around school.
Carry out regular litter picks in school and in the local area.
Lunchtime Ambassadors
Job Description
This role is appointed to Year 6 pupils and their role is to promote positive behaviours in the dining hall at lunchtime. The pupils work in pairs and are allocated a set table for a lunch time. The pupils lead by example, they demonstrate good behaviour and they promote conversations with the younger pupils. They also promote good manners whilst eating and support the younger pupils to eat accordingly. The role operates on a sitting basis and is altered every half term meaning the pupils mix across the school year and work with different people and pupils.
There is a clear responsibility with this role. The pupils not only encourage the positive eating but ensure tables are clean, that pupils are not rushing their food and that the social element of food and eating is promoted as a positive thing
The job of a lunchtime Ambassador involves the following:
Encouraging and demonstrating good manners while eating their lunch.
Help with opening various food packaging to help the children to continue to eat their lunch.
Model and promote conversations while having their lunch guiding them to regulate the volume of their voices, turn taking and listening skills.
Lead children in and out of the hall and encouraging wonderful walking.
Report to adults in the hall with continued poor manners and negative behaviour.
Hand out hot dinners to children having school hot lunches.
Wipe tables and seats clean.
Fold away tables and sweep the floor clean.
Support the children in clearing their trays at the end of lunch.
Reading Ambassadors
Job Description
Reading Ambassadors work towards promoting reading and reading for enjoyment across the school. They must love to read, read books of different genres and authors and like sharing books and stories with others. We would love someone who has lots of good ideas about how to get everyone reading across the school – even the staff!
The job of a Reading Ambassador involves the following:
Sharing recommendations and book reviews with the school.
Working together to write a monthly Reading newsletter.
Pre-reading new books in the class libraries across the year groups and writing reviews to go alongside the books.
Reading and recording picture books for the younger year groups.
Supporting children in Years 1 and 2 with their reading.
Helping to organise Reading days, events such as World Book Day.
Helping with the book swap trolleys in the library and out the front of school. This will begin later in the Autumn Term.
Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of the library area and help with classroom libraries.
Digital Ambassadors
Job Description
Pupils in year 6 are able to apply for this position which is overseen by Mr Godfrey. Digital Leaders play a key role in the promotion of a digital world. They support in the teaching of and understanding of digital technology. They learn new techniques and teaching methods allowing them to share with their peers and can support the teaching and learning. Digital Ambassadors also take care of the equipment in school. They understand the need to look after the wide range of devices and can demonstrate how elements can be used correctly. In addition to this, they will promote e-safety across the school through regular activities and events. They will also play a key role in delivering key messages to parents and family members.
The job of a Play Ambassador involves the following:
Daily check ins with the school’s Chromebooks to ensure they are neatly stored and on charge.
Assist in the use of class interactive boards and support the adults in using them confidently.
Support assembly ambassadors with the ICT used in assemblies.
Complete termly checks on all Chromebooks and record any that need an IT technicians attention and recording the reason in the log book.
Support other classes with the use of ICT.
Training yourselves to understand and be confident when new technology is introduced to the school.
Assist and help organise digital events such as e-safety week.
Play Ambassadors
Job Description
Play Ambassadors are selected from pupils in Year 6 following an application and interview process. The role of Play Ambassador is linked to the promotion of positive play at break and lunchtimes. They play an important role in ensuring play times are creative, fun and safe for everyone. Play Ambassadors must commit to this role and the need to spend some of their play time delivering games and activities. The Play Ambassadors work on a rota basis meaning they are not always on duty and can interact with their peers however, they must commit to the role and cannot ‘pick and choose’ what they do. We seek pupils who are creative, enjoy leading activities and enjoy promoting positive play. Appointed pupils will be supported by the Play Leader (Mrs Gerrard). Appointed Ambassadors work closely with the School Council Reps and Sports Leaders in ensuring play times meet the needs and requirements of all pupils.
The job of a Play Ambassador involves the following:
Play Ambassadors are responsible for leading a range of games and activities with all age ranges and play time.
Set up playtimes so they are reading before the children enter the playground.
Participate, engage and encourage participants in safe play.
Model the behaviours behind safe play – respect.
Work well with a team to ensure the role is shared.
Support play in both KS2 and 1 playground.
Ensuring equipment is packed away neatly at the end of play time.
Be willing to create and try new games to make play fun for all.
