Learning to play the ukulele (Spring Term)

We have been very fortunate, this term, to have Mr Selby from Somerset Music teaching us how to play the ukuleles. We started with body percussion to help us warm up our fingers, hands and understanding tempo. We learnt a range of chords individually, before putting them into a scale. In addition, we learnt that tempo means the speed of the music and dynamics was the variation of loudness between notes or phrases. Have a listen to our playing and see our learning in action.

Creating Sound Effects (27.09.22)

Our class have been learning how sound effects are used to enhance animations. They have focused on the silent movements of the Pink Panther and exploring which instruments and their sounds will be the best to use.

Class 4 DJs! (30.06.2022)

The children were given a task to create music to go with their World War II powerpoint presentations on 'Who Were More Powerful?'. They had great fun creating different beats and tempos, carefully selecting and creating the correct musical beats to go with the information on the slides.

Notes and Rhythms (17.05.22)

We have been using our prior knowledge to understand and identify note values, such as half notes, quarter notes and eighth notes. We have also been creating rhythms using our knowledge of note values.
