Mental Health & Wellbeing
Mental Health and wellbeing
Our vision at Cheddon Fitzpaine Church School is for us to take a whole school approach to promoting positive Mental Health and wellbeing, aiming to help children build their resilience, keep them happy and as a result keep them learning to become successful and proactive learners.
We are committed to supporting the health and wellbeing of our pupils and staff to ensure that the whole school is a community where everyone feels able to thrive. Positive mental wellbeing is essential if children and young people are to flourish and lead fulfilling lives.
At our school we know that everyone experiences life challenges that can make us vulnerable and at times anyone may need additional emotional support.
We take the view that positive mental health is everybody's business and that we all have a role to play.
Promoting a mentally healthy environment here at Cheddon:
- Promoting our school values, RESPECT, TRUST and PERSEVERANCE.
- Promoting our school's vision, where we all BELONG, BELIEVE in ourselves and others, and build for our future.
- Promoting pupil voice with our well-being ambassadors.
- Celebrating academic and non-academic achievements.
- Access to appropriate support that meets their needs.
At Cheddon we promote Mental well-being in several ways throughout the school year and we offer the children many opportunities whether that is physical or relaxing:
- Playground games
- Themed Days
- Charity Days
- Summer Fair
- Christmas Fair
- School council events

Teaching Mental Health and wellbeing
We are incredibly lucky at Cheddon to have Mrs Winter who is our ELSA and Mrs Hudson that works alongside in the support of ELSA and mental health and wellbeing we also have our fantastic Wellbeing champions who give us our pupil voice.
Well-being Champions
We believe that a pupil's voice is an essential part of running a mentally healthy school and that Pupil wellbeing champions can help reduce stigma around mental health within the school, provide support and guidance to fellow pupils, engage with students in a relatable manner and promote wellbeing strategies.
This year our Champions are:
