Sports Activities Provided at School

We recognise the importance of sport at school, both as a means of challenging individual effort and perseverance, but also to create teamwork and social skills. Recognising children’s individuality, we try to provide a range of sporting activities to suit all interests.

In school we address these areas throughout all aspects of the school day:

Stay and Play provision at the start and end of the school day

  • All of the Stay and Play staff have received training from external sports coaches to provide a range of multi-sports activities.

PE Lessons

  • PE sessions are taught by experienced, specialist coaches. A strong relationship is built up between the school and coach so that children’s needs are met.

Break Times

  • Children have access to a range of equipment during break times. During the summer months, the school field is used in order to increase the range of sports on offer.

Targeted Interventions

  • We use the power of sport to provide specific skills interventions for targeted groups of children. A SHIELD coach works in school every week with groups of children from both KS1 and KS2.

Extra-Curricular School Clubs

  • Clubs change during the year, but have recently included football, tag rugby, basketball, rounders, athletics

Inter School Activities

  • The school has taken part in inter school festivals, hosted by the local secondary school.
  • Teams have also participated in inter school competitions in both football and basketball.
